Honor Illinois' Truth-in-Tuition law and oppose proposal to increase tuition differentials

The Issue

In 2004, Illinois passed a law (Truth-in-Tuition) that freezes tuition rates for 4 years at state universities. On Friday October 18th, the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago notified students of their proposal that increases the tuition differential for the 2020-2021 school year by 1.8%. This is a way to circumvent our state's law and push costs of increasing enrollment, new buildings and research labs for professors onto current undergraduates. We request that the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago honor that law and reject the increase of tuition differentials furthering the ever increasing burden for young people of funding their education.
