The Kennedy Union Pub at the University of Dayton had been established as one of the campus communities favorite local gathering places. It was a place for of-age Flyers to come together, have a drink, listen to live music and catch up with friends at the end of the week. The KU Pub was located conveniently in the center of campus and created a safe place for students to enjoy themselves while consuming alcohol; it became a University of Dayton staple. Underage students looked forward to the day that they could participate in this tradition. This dream suddenly halted as KU Pub closed it’s doors in 2010. Due to the aging of the bar’s draft system the Pub became a thing of the past. It would be in need of major repairs if it were ever to be revived. The void of losing the KU Pub is evident around UD’s campus; there is no replacement for this favorite gathering place in the heart of student life. The Pub was unique to the University of Dayton and brought a lot of positive energy to the students. Whether in the form of live music, great conversation or just being with friends the Pub’s energy was ever present. The spirit of this tradition cannot end in defeat. Soon the student’s who remember the Pub will graduate. The future of the KU Pub lies in the hand of the current students.

We must make the change, revive the Pub.
