This petition calls for the University of Birmingham to provide facilities in the library and across campus for students to refill their water bottles. When I asked the library services where I could refill my bottle, I was sent to the library café, where I was informed nowhere on campus was permitted to refill water bottles. It is unacceptable in 2020 for students to have to purchase plastic water bottles when there are plenty of COVID-19 safe options for refilling bottles. I believe that the University should be striving to tackle needless plastic waste at every opportunity and so I request a sustainable solution for access to drinking water on campus.
