Many College students struggle with math specifically Algebra. College Algebra is a required course for your general education classes. Most Colleges will not allow you to move past this course until you achieve a grade of C + or better. Although, technically a passing grade in college is considered a D. Hence, College Algebra is solely exam based. Leaving students that struggle with test anxiety at a huge disadvantaged. Most College courses have a 50 / 50 % or 60 / 40 % grading ratio between exams and homework. Not College Algebra, my current class is 25% homework with 75% exam baseline. In addition, it has been proven that exams affect student assurance and cause excess stress. Unlike exams, homework allows students to work at their own pace in a non stressful setting. I have read numerous articles of individuals abandoning college due to their inability to pass this course. Primary reason for leaving College due to Algebra, is the inability to pass their exams. I want to help reduce the number of individuals that surrender their dream of degree, by proposing this petition. In conclusion, if College is suppose to prepare us for the work force. Wouldn't homework be more valuable then testing anyway? Since, most of us will be doing projects and such in the workforce. Thank you for taking the time to read my petition.
