For years students of the Humanities Master's Book and Paper have suffered from an "esteemed" and highly influential UvA professor who has verbally and sexually assaulted female students. His assaults range from sexist remarks, inappropriate quotes, favouring some students above others to outright sexually harassing female students by continually touching them. Almost half of all students of the Master's between 2012 and 2018 have stopped as restorer with some even left with severe burn outs and mental health issues.

His behaviour has been brought under the attention of study advisors, student deans, Ombusofficials, faculty councils and finally even the central council, dean and director of UvA. They CHOSE the preserve their image instead of their students. They keep stressing their commitment to a safe student environment. What is their definition of safe? An environment where students are afraid to speak up, to testify against harassment? 

As current, past and future (UvA) students we demand justice for the student that have felt powerless and unsafe. We demand UvA to start thinking about what it means to protect your image at the cost of the mental and physical health of your students. And most of all, we demand the IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION of the professor in question.
