All over India, a number of PhD-qualified candidates are engaged as guest faculty (Qualifications are the same as for the permanent post of assistant professor) in state/central universities.  In-State/Private Universities they get Rs. 500/per Lecture and Rs. 1500/per Lecture in central universities/NITs but their experience is not counted as experience for the regular job. Teaching in universities is only active for 8 months in an academic session so there is no salary for 4 months in a year. According to UGC (University Grants Commission), only Adhoc/contractual posts are counted as experience, this is short of harassment in the name of teaching, they search for jobs at other places. This is how government/UGC is killing the energy of a trained workforce and expecting development, innovation creation out of nothing. if guest faculty is not considered as experience for recruitment of assistant professors by UGC then why waste candidate’s time by recruiting them as guest faculty. Even in some universities maternity leave is also not provided. Everyone cannot get a PDF (Post-Doctoral fellowship) after Ph.D. nowadays, he/she serves as guest faculty then why guest faculty experience is given 0 marks. The candidates join this post only to get some income instead of being unemployed after Ph.D. but it does not mean to exploit their energy, knowledge, and time in vain.

In many universities, self-financed departments are run by guest faculty who do not have regular faculty, and guest faculty is handling the department yet their work experience is not counted, whereas the selection process is done like regular faculty. The teacher is a teacher whether he/she is on an Adhoc, contractual, or guest basis.

Sir you are requested to look into this episode and please count the experience of guest faculty because thousands of guest faculty/ resource persons are working in many Central/state Institutions all over India.
