Hillman Jordan’s Appeal for Release due to Covid-191 Spread in DC Jail must be Denied

Hillman Jordan’s defense lawyers, Dana Page and Nathaniel Mensah have filed multiple urgent appeals to release Jawaid Bhutto’s assassin from DC prison, citing the outbreak of Covid-19.

We the undersigned wish to underscore that Jordan is a two-time murderer and a repeated violent offender, who is a danger to the public and should not be released from prison under any circumstances.

Hillman Jordan committed pre-meditated murder on March 1st 2019, when he targeted Sindh’s beloved philosopher and Sufi, Jawaid Bhutto. That was his second murder. He escaped prison the first time by pleading the insanity defense and was committed to St. Elizabeth Psychiatric Hospital. The judge laid preconditions for his release that he should not have access to drugs. Despite this, Jordan flagrantly violated the conditions, including attempting to kill a former member of St. Elizabeth.

Ironically, in December 2019 when Jordan was shifted to the condo below Jawaid Bhutto’s apartment, the District of Columbia kept his background confidential. As a result, Bhutto was legally not required to know that his condo was located on top of a murderer who had been found not guilty by reason of insanity.

In January 2019, Bhutto complained to Jordan’s landlord, Joe Holston about a persistent problem with marijuana smoke that entered his apartment. Holston was a childhood friend of the killer and tipped him off about his neighbor’s complaint.

On March 1, 2019 a video captures the killer bursting out of his home with a gun with which he targeted Bhutto in a totally unprovoked attack.

Why are defendants Dana Page ignoring the fact that thousands of people are mourning the loss of Jawaid Bhutto at the hands of an insane killer. It defies common sense why they still insist on releasing him even when this means risking the safety of the public from a two-time murderer, a violent offender and a drug addict.

Government attorney Timothy Shea has eloquently opposed the defendants’ motion on why Hilman Jordan must not be released from prison. Shea’s motion warns that Jordan’s release will be a threat to St. Elizabeth and to society at large.

We the undersigned demand that Judge Dana Dayson must not set a bond hearing in DC Superior Court, as is being requested by the defendant attorneys.
