In 2005, my nephew Zachary was brutally murdered at the hands of someone my sister knew, and once trusted. This was no accident. There was also a young girl who witnessed it all happen. She herself feared for her life, and ran to get help the second that she could…but it was too late. He was severely beaten…held in a tub under water to be drowned. He was only 1.5 years old. We went to say our goodbyes to him during what was the absolute most heartbreaking thing I’ve experienced.

His funeral. NOTHING can prepare you for the funeral of a sweet, young, loved, innocent baby boy. We stood together as a family, in solidarity for him…we vowed we would see that justice was served in his name…

Sadly, the justice system - failed him.
They failed my sister who will never be the same.

He was sentenced to roughly 10 years, including time served. He is a free man. Free to do this again to someone else…how is this the world we live in? HOW IS THIS OKAY?!
