Since 1942, U.S. Navy Seabees seeking U.S. Postal service citizens advisory to reconsider.

Since 1942, U.S. Navy Seabees seeking U.S. Postal service citizens advisory to reconsider.
The Issue
My Fellow Seabees, as our 80th anniversary in March of 2022 draws closer, it behooves us to mount a letter writing campaign requesting a USPS Seabee Stamp be issued in recognition of the U.S. Navy Seabees and to commemorate this milestone event. Past initiatives to persuade the Citizen’s Stamp Advisory Committee to issue a Seabee stamp, recognizing our existence and our previous anniversaries ended without success. We cannot and must not let these past rejections deter us from seeking the recognition and acknowledgement the Seabees have earned.
“The difficult we do now, The Impossible takes a little longer” is a statement about the Seabee creed of “CAN DO”. Seabee pride and esprit de corps is never ending, but not readily shared with outsiders. This initiative is our opportunity to have the legacy of our past, present and future brothers and sister Seabees recognized for their service to God and Country.
The Seabee Veterans of America along with the Seabee Historical Foundation have joined together in championing this cause. We are asking YOU, the SVA and SHF members to pick up the torch and to display that CAN DO Spirit by signing and mailing the sample stamp request letter below. Your statement or letter needs to be sent to the Citizen’s Stamp Advisory Committee address listed below. Because the wheels of bureaucracy move slowly the sooner everyone responds to this request for action the better, the more requests mailed the greater the impact. Let’s commit to making this happen.
Stamp Development, Commander Citizens’ stamp advisory Committee, Veterans of America, 475 L’Enfant plaza SW, RM 3300, Washington, DC 20260-3501
On USPS.COM, there are 85 different categories of stamps to choose from. It’s time for a seabee stamp to commemorative the legacy of the fighting Seabees, defenders of the seven seas...
