November 1st was just proclaimed the “National Day of Remembrance for Americans killed by illegal Immigrants” By Current President Donald Trump. This day is also the Mexican celebration of Dia de Los Muertos; (Day of the Dead.) This is a celebration of death and life for Mexicans that had made its way through multiple states including The US. It is a slap in the face and an attack on Mexico and Mexican Americans. There is no national holiday to remember any other lives lost in this matter and with time this “Holiday” will cause a divide upon races and hatred towards Hispanics in the United States. For our country and our president to create this holiday is a painful action in all communities and will end in hate crimes, racial violence, attacks, and degrading celebrations brought on by the holidays supporters. Day of the Dead is a celebration to recognize all lives lost no matter the cause and for Trumps holiday to try and suffocate that as well as target Hispanics is repulsing and wrong. We have had enough with talks of building the Wall, putting immigrants and children in cages, and racist acts by this president, now we must deal with a holiday that WILL be targeting Mexicans regardless of immigration status by racist and terrorizing groups is dangerous. There is not need for this holiday to exist let alone putting it on a Mexican day of celebration. Please sign this and make a change so we can avoid attacks on human beings. This is wrong is so many ways and the administration needs to know this.
