United States Emergency Budget Reform
United States Emergency Budget Reform
The Issue
In The United States, we have, in recent years, seen firsthand that our own representatives in government are unable to keep our government open and operating. This has created hardship for many Americans. So yes, we do in fact need to do this ourselves if we want it done right.
This petition seeks to compel our employees in Washington DC to pass our budget by coming together in a two thirds majority as citizens and holding a town hall with Congress to demand that our budget be passed if they have not passed it of their own accord before we have enough people on board.
Our budget, therefore, must be agreeable to all Americans, and we seek to bring in the input of organizations and people like workers unions, veterans, charities, economic researchers, professionals of all kinds, human rights advocates, community leaders, and many others to make our budget as functional as possible for those who are most in need of help now.
Our budget bill would edit the current one to work towards six goals. The first is to end child hunger, followed by all hunger, in the US. The second is to end child homelessness, followed by all homelessness, in the US. The third is to provide free or cheap healthcare to those most in need, followed by all citizens. The fourth is to improve the working conditions of the American people. The fifth is to increase teacher salaries, followed by fully funding all us school districts based on their need. The sixth is to invest in our most stable and dependable sources of national income.
There are so many more issues here at home we can work on, but we believe just about everybody can agree with our core goals. We believe the American people can and will come together to begin working on the sad state of affairs.
We believe this bill will pay for itself in due time through it's deep investment in the American people at large, but as for immediate funding, we currently recommend the additionally needed funds for this bill be appropriated through a tax increase on the ultra rich and large corporations who frequently pay less in tax percentage than the average American worker. We also recommend that when their is no imminent threat to our homeland, we use a small portion of military funds to supplement our budgetary needs. We do however, explicitly prohibit cuts to things like soldier salaries or veteran healthcare. We obviously owe these people more than just free healthcare for life, but there is no amount of money that can compensate for the horrors of war. As such, veterans receiving free healthcare at ANY hospital of their choosing in the US is a bare minimum requirement of this budget reform.
Each day we are pitted against one another for no real reason in particular. It's always somebody else doing something we don't like. With this petition, we seek to come together and do something we all like. We can't imagine anything more American than coming together as one people to lift each other up.
Because we do not see ourselves as a political movement of any kind, and rather see ourselves simply as The People, The National Petition for Emergency Budget Reform does not align itself with any political party. In fact, we seek to simply override their endless bickering by demanding here and now that they at least fix our most urgent problems before we allow them to get back to their latest squabble.
This petition will, of course, function as a living document. It will be updated to reflect the needs of those we have failed as a society.
We believe that it is beyond unacceptable that we are the richest country in the world, and yet we don't provide for ourselves what every other developed country provides for their citizens.
It is unfortunate but clear that we have to come together if we ever want to fix anything around here. We've spent decades being failed by both Democrats and Republicans. There is no end in sight to their childish disputes. They very simply aren't doing their jobs, so it falls to us, their employer, to fix their mistakes.
We do not condone any violence towards any government official, nor do condone any vandalism of government property.
We do condone making your voice heard elsewhere besides just here. Show up to your local town hall, see if you can get your mayor on board, call your senator and tell them you're sick of them doing anything other than helping our own people, talk to your union about it, talk to your religious leaders, and most importantly, talk to each other. We became Americans when we got sick of the government, and we now remind our government that we are Americans still to this day.
If all you can do is sign this petition and agree that we've had enough of the nonsense, thank you. If you can and want to get involved to work towards a better America, reach out and let your voice be heard. Once we come together as a people, our government will have no excuses left to not do what we want with OUR money.
This bill is yet to be drafted. We will release a draft once we receive expert opinions that guide us on how best to impact the lives of those in need the quickest. We'll also need input from the people that study these exact areas and first hand accounts from those being negatively affected by our government's current failings as a governing body.
