Caregivers are responsible for the physical and emotional well-being of those who can no longer care for themselves due to illness, disability, and or injury. Caregivers are considered essential employees during the current pandemic of COVID-19 but do not receive any additional Hazard pay for working under these conditions. There is an overwhelming weight on the shoulders of a caregiver to try to protect the seniors with underlying health problems as well as their own health & their loved ones back at home. Putting all at jeopardy at the cost of only receiving the minimum wage of $12/hr without any additional pay!

This is very unfortunate being that they are in physical contact with those who are the most vulnerable to COVID-19.

Many agencies recognize the dangerous risks caregivers are taking, but fail to support their employees financially. It is important to support front line employees, including caregivers, as they are working under pressure during this difficult time! A solution to this unfortunate situation is to provide all essential employees with Hazard Pay! An additional pay on top of the minimum pay rate for all of their hard work and efforts during this Hazardous Pandemic!
