Most people think that GALS (giant African land snails) are bad because they are “invasive species.” But that’s because of irresponsible owners who released these absolutely adorable snails into the wild and abandon them. In The UK, GALS are legal as pets, and if their owners release them into the wild, they have to pay a fine. That’s how I think it should be in the USA. The snails would NOT be in the wild if they are pets, which is why I think they should be legal as PETS! The only reason they are considered “invasive” is because they are much larger than most snails and that is a POSSIBILITY that they are invasive. It’s not the snail’s fault that some irresponsible person abandoned them in the wild. Yes, I agree it should be illegal to release them or their eggs, but it should be legal to keep them as pets. They are SUPER CUTE and just perfect for people with fur/feathers/hair allergies! That is why you should sign this petition! After I have enough signatures, I will send this petition to the USDA and won’t stop trying until they say yes!!!!!
