The 2nd amendment, written at a time when soldiers used muskets and created for the purpose of ensuring a "well regulated militia," has been twisted to ensure that nearly every American has the right to accumulate assault weapons and ammunition and undermine any common sense gun control legislation. So as to remove this hook for the NRA to continually hang its hat upon, regardless of its effect on public safety, the 2nd Amendment should be repealed and replace with common sense gun legislation.
