On January 6, 2021, the Capitol building was stormed by domestic terrorists, many of whom were once American patriots who fell victim to fascist, white supremacist, pro-Trump propaganda. This insurrection was incited by the President of the United States in an effort to pressure the Vice President and Congress to overturn the results of the 2020 election. This was the first time the Capitol had been breached since the War of 1812.

We the people hereby request that the United States Congress establish a new holiday on the 6th of January each year to remind ourselves and our posterity of one of the most shameful days in American history, while simultaneously ensuring the safety of federal workers on each anniversary of this day. This event will not soon be forgotten.
