Interestingly, I just had a telephone conversation with Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick's office (D. Az.). I have requested a meeting with her as my representative in Congress and I apparently am not going to get one. The best that her office had to offer was that they had sent this information on to their legislative division in Washington and had contacted CMS, the outside contracting agency that has jurisdiction over Medicare issues. The caseworker I spoke to also stated that since Rep. Kirkpatrick is not on any committee that has to do with health care or Medicare, and because she is a Democrat in a Republican Congress, there was nothing that she could do as far as sponsoring a bill in the House to fix this problem. The caseworker kept telling me that I didn't understand how the system works. Unfortunately, we all know too well how the system works. I have contacted Sen. John McCain, who is being challenged for his Senate seat by Ms. Kirkpatrick. This is not a Republican or Democrat or even a political issue. This is a uniquely American issue, and no American should be forced into a position where they cannot obtain lifesaving drugs. It is only by grassroots pressure that we will be able to impress upon our elected officials in Washington that this is a dire situation for millions of Americans, so please, if you believe in and support this cause, publicize it on your social media and let's get as many people involved as we can.
