Yesterday I received a telephone call from Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick's Washington, DC office from one of the Congresswoman's Legislative Assistants. That is exciting news because it means that it is out of the hands of a basically powerless caseworker and into the legislative arm of Rep. Kirkpatrick's office. Her name was Molly, and she was extremely kind and helpful. I explained the whole situation to her and she understood that any amendment to the Social Security Act to accomplish our goal would not be of any cost to the taxpayers. She stated that she was going to escalate this issue to the legislative committee staff and see what is pending and whether this could be something that could be approachable. It certainly doesn't hurt that Rep. Kirkpatrick is a senior member of the House and that she is challenging John McCain for his Senate seat in Arizona! Again, I want to thank everyone for your support, and I hope that we can declare victory for the millions of Americans who suffer from rare disorders and are unable to afford their medication because they are on government assisted prescription plans!
