Al Arocho started this petition to Executive Officer, United States Coast Guard Commander Aaron J. Ortenzio and

My Son Joshua Arocho who has been serving in the United States Coast Guard for the past 4 1/2 years is being dismissed from his service for taking Cannabis for his anxiety disorder. He has sought medical help, and was prescribed meds which were not helping him. Although he is stationed in California where Cannabis is medically and Recreationally legal, he was not legally able to take it due to the restrictions of the military. Instead of drinking alcohol which the military allows, and his medication not helping Joshua thought that cannabis would be an alternative in helping him with his mental health issues. Now he faces dismissal from service. With all the laws changing from state to state, and adopting the use of Cannabis medically, the federal Government has yet to legalize it, along with the United States Military as an natural alternative for PTSD, Anxiety, and Panic Disorder for active members of the service. Please save Joshua Arocho from dismal and be given the chance to remain in the United States Coast Guard, so that he can fulfill the remainder of his contract, and receive his full benefits for serving his country in a time of a global pandemic. His country owes him for his service, and should not penalize him, or others that have done the same in seeking an alternative natural medication, for their health issues.
