Add Red, White & Blue Smoke to the USAF Thunderbirds

The Issue

**** PETITION DRAFT ***

Since they started flying in 1953 the Air Force Thunderbirds have used only white airshow "smoke".

The air force demonstration teams in at least 9 other countries have the ability to add their national colors to their airshow smoke.  The countries include the UK, France, China, Italy, the UAE, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan.

The USA should have this element as part of our Air Force demonstration team, too.

These other teams demonstrate the technology to do this is readily available to our Air Force.

The Thunderbirds have recently been doing special flyovers of the hospitals in Las Vegas and in Colorado to acknowledge and thank the healthcare workers.

This would be the time for the Thunderbirds to raise the impact of flyovers like these and future aerial demonstrations they do by incorporating red, white and blue smoke.

In addition, the US airshow industry conducts airshows enjoyed by millions of families each year.  Raising the impact of the Thunderbird’s airshow performances would also help the airshow industry in its recovery from the impact of the Covid-19 situation.

Please join us in encouraging the Air Force to make this very memorable addition to the Thunderbirds’ capability.

Lastly, in 1860 11-year old Grace Bedell suggested in a letter to Lincoln that he grow a beard.  Sometimes it is voices suggesting a small change that creates something that has lasting and memorable impact.
