Social media platforms can create a negative space in which users may feel obliged or pressured into keeping up with fake skin standards. However, we can use social media platforms to spread positive messages about our skin. As a 17-year old high school student, I have witnessed this all too often in the school environment.

Skin Positivity Day is about coming out boldly against all types of negative pressures to live a liberated life in your skin!

Skin Positivity Day aims to channel social media as a positive space to talk openly about skin conditions and insecurities. Skin is skin. No matter what your skin color or skin type is, we are all in the same boat. Only by joining forces can we overcome all forms of skin stigma. So, join LoveMySkin campaign as we embrace our skin openly, talk freely about our challenges, and together find lasting solutions to skin health and skin insecurities.

The skin is the largest organ in the human body, about 16% of every individual's body weight. Do you know that many people around the world suffer from skin conditions and skin-related insecurities at some point in their life? From acne to vitiligo to colorism, everyone deals with these skin issues one way or another. Actually, one in three people suffers from some skin conditions in their lifetime. Skin conditions and insecurities can be tough to manage and take a toll on one's mental health.

Do you realize that skin conditions or insecurities can be just as disabling as other chronic health conditions, often affecting self‐esteem, success at school or work, and even relationships? Studies have shown that one‐third of dermatology patients have significant social anxiety due to having some form of skin condition or insecurity. These patients also tend to have higher levels of stress, depression, and anxiety than the general population.

So join us to build momentum to create a Skin Positivity Day. A dedicated day to reflect on skin well-being for all ages (United Nations Global Goal for Sustainable Development 3).

Please sign this petition to support this cause and to be a part of the Skin Positivity movement! Help me spread this message of self-love and acceptance for all skin. Thank you!
