We are petitioning that there be designated  International Day of the Essential Worker or the International Essential Worker Day.

The essential workers - the ones who ensured that they work to provide essential services to everyone while rest of the population could go into isolation, protecting them and minimising chances being infected by a virus for which there is no cure!

The essential workers risked their lives and sacrificed their comfort and their safety so others can live in comfort and safety and still lead a near normal life. 

The essential workers are the true heroes  of today. Heroes who faced the covid-19 pandemic head on. Without them there would have been a total chaos. The essential worker ensured we continue to get what had been taken for granted but could not be delivered without them putting their neck out and taking a risk - a big risk of being exposed to the virus themselves.  

Some of the things ( by no means a  complete or a full list...)  the essential worker ensured and continues to ensure: the sick, the aged and the vulnerable  are looked after,  medicines are dispensed, everyone has access to electricity, water and other utilities, garbage collected, groceries via  supermarkets,  delivery of various products, safety of the public and list goes on...

They have been the backbone of recovery of every country by ensuring the basics- the essentials for a comfortable survival were provided. 

Lest we forget... let’s commemorate and celebrate the essential worker every year with a designated International Day of the Essential Worker or the International Essential Worker Day.
