Free Alexei Navalny!

Free Alexei Navalny!
Das Problem
What do we want?
We want you to sign a petition to free Alexei Navalny and ALL political prisoners in Russia!
Why?
On August 22nd 2020, Alexei Navalny was brought to Germany with the help of Cinema for Peace Foundation; because of the efforts of the head of CfP, Mr Jaka Bizilj, Alexei Navalny was safely transported to Berlin Charite Clinic for treatment on short notice; the same was done for Pyotr Verzilow, a friend of Navalny, in 2018. On January 17th 2021, Alexei Navalny returned to Moscow to continue fighting for democracy and was immediately imprisoned by Russian authorities and remains in prison. On January 18th, German foreign minister Heiko Maas gave a press conference where he condemned Russian authorities’ actions. Cinema for Peace calls on all parliamentarians, peace proponents, leaders, individuals and institutions to raise their voices in demand for freeing Alexei Navalny and all political prisoners in Russia, for allowing free and fair elections and safety for all democratic movements there.
What should you do?
As an incentive measure, we propose to suspend all current and future gas and oil deals with Russia until human rights abuses stop; we demand that countries such as Russia, China and Saudi Arabia should have human rights tax in international trade until they change their behaviour towards human rights for better. Sign a petition to support our demand!
Who are we?
Cinema for Peace is a foundation based in Berlin, Germany. Apart from other international activities, Cinema for Peace co-produced a film about the murdered Russian journalist Anna Politkowskaja with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon and Catherine Deneuve, shown films about the murdered opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, screened films and debates on the Sergei Magnitsky case with Bill Browder and others transferred to the captivity of Pussy Riot. Mikhail Gorbachev acted regularly as honorary chairman of the annual gala and presented the first “Green Oscar” at Cinema for Peace to Leonardo DiCaprio.
What now?
Sign our petition! We look to the future with bright eyes and hope. Help us build that future!
Sincerely Yours,
Cinema for Peace Foundation.
