Ban the wildlife markets in South-East Asia!
The Issue
Ban wildlife markets in South-East Asia!
Wildlife markets are still a big thing in the South-East Asian area. Not only do these markets violate every law against nature and animals, they are also the foundation of disease-outbreaks, including the SARS-outbreak in 2003 and the one we are dealing with now, the COVID-19 pandemic. The animals are put in very small cages stacked on top of each other and are therefore covered in bodily fluids from other animals, making it easier to transfer diseases which can be transmittable to humans.
It is also disgraceful how these animals are treated by humans. They are illegally hunted and trafficked and put in a dreadful environment. For example, the pangolin. They are sold in China for people believe that their scales can cure cancer (spoiler alert: it doesn’t). They are hunted in African countries because the Chinese pangolin population is reduced by 80% in only 21 years.
So not only do these markets participate in animal cruelty, they also support poaching and other illegal activities.
Please, for the sake of the animals and also human health, we need to make the governments of these countries see that these wildlife markets need to be banned! Please sign this petition!

Video about China and World Health Organisation (Dutch Spoken but with english subtitle option)
Video about wildlife markets and corona virus (English spoken)
Not a video about wildlife markets but about the exotic animal trade.
