We are writing this petition in support of Turkmen activists - Kakamyrat Hydyrov and Azat Hayytbayev, one of whom was arrested and is now under house arrest in Turkey. The arrest is a politically manipulated game by the Turkmen government in Turkey.

Turkmenistan’s government overused it’s power in Turkey by manipulating Turkish police to arrest Turkmen activists that were going to hold a peaceful meeting inside the Hotel Marmara. The only purpose of this meeting was to discuss the ways to bring a just and lawful change to the situation in our own country Turkmenistan and how to make international laws and our country laws work. Several activists were arrested by the Turkish police, these arrests were staged by the Turkmen embassy in Turkey, some of the activists were released some days later, but Kakamurad Hydyrov and Azat Hayytbayev are still under house arrest or scrutiny.

Worldwide Turkmen activists know how cruelly and aggressively our rights are being violated, the rights of civil citizens and the international laws are being gruesomely overlooked and broken by the Turkmen Government. A year ago a young student Omruzak Omurkuliev, who opened a Turkmen Student Body was lured back into Turkmenistan to never to be heard from again. We not only worry about his situation, we also worry about the situation of the abovementioned activists. We would like to ask you to provide your utmost attention and to provide much needed protection for them. Also, we ask that you prevent the wrongdoing and lawlessness of the Turkmen authorities, who have no right to run their activities inside Turkey. We ask that you stop their actions of abusing the Turkish law.

On October 26th of this year Kakamyrat Hydyrov in support of the worldwide Turkmen peaceful protests against the unlawful government of Turkmenistan and against the change of the independence date, was going to hold a press conference in the Hotel Marmara. He and some other Turkmens were arrested on false charges made by the Turkmen Embassy, located in Ankara, Turkey. Hydyrov and 3 others were held over night and others for several days in jail. Now he is under house arrest and held against his will.

The Turkmen government has made calls and threats both to Hydyrov and Hayytbayev, it has also harassed their close ones back in Turkmenistan. There has also been an internal order to return these two men to Turkmenistan, upon which they will be sent straight to the notorious Ovadan Depe political jail. The one that rarely returns bodies of the prisoners.

Turkey knows well of the current state of dictatorship in Turkmenistan, and knows well about the high corruption rates and human rights abuses. Several Turkish citizens have died under vague circumstances in Turkmenistan and many Turkish companies and individuals have suffered unfair practices as well as loss of their businesses in Turkmenistan. There are many class action cases in the Arbitration Court against Turkmenistan.

International Community and the Government of Turkey, please, STOP and free our peaceful activists. We deserve a better life. We deserve to see the world democracy work in real life. Show us the true democracy that you live upon and base on!
