Withdraw the UBC endorsement of Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Presidential Nomination

Withdraw the UBC endorsement of Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Presidential Nomination
The Issue
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America officially endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. There are several reasons why this is unbelievable, but here are the top three:
1.) The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America endorsement process should ensure that all voices are heard and that the International will continue to keep an open dialogue with candidates from both parties. Our union is diverse and what unites us is the belief that the deck is stacked against working people in this country, and we want a Presidential leader who is committed to working with us to change that.
The future of the UBC will not grow by the few, it is going to require every member to work and stand together to achieve growth in membership, market share and impact. To that end, the International should seek the members input on who the UBC endorses for President of the United States.
2.) With an early endorsement for Hillary Clinton which took place before any of the scheduled Democratic Party debates and before the list of Democratic Party candidates was completed, we're projecting to the membership that those other Democratic Party candidates aren't worth our time and that democracy isn't important. We can't ignore the fact that there are other 2016 Presidential candidates that have a better track record in terms of labor issues.
3.) As the United Brotherhood of Carpenters continues to recover from the 2008 recession, we need to acknowledge that many of the members of the UBC fell on hard times during those years and are still in the process of recovering. We also need to acknowledge that the recession was caused not because of the working class but because of the top 1%, Wall Street. The International should not make a unilateral decision to back a candidate that has a track record of having received campaign contributions from Wall Street.
Please sign the petition below to demand that Carpenters' General President Douglas J. McCarron and the rest of the General Executive Board withdraw their top-down endorsement for Hillary Clinton and set up a democratic and transparent process to poll the membership and provide meaningful input about any UBC endorsement for President of the United States.
