Hello families!  On my family's last cross country flight, our four year old was seated separately from us on our economy flight.  The airline would not help us correct the problem and we were left to bargain with our seatmates to sit by our preschooler on a 5 hour flight. 

These kinds of experiences for families on flights are commonplace.  Families board flights and the entire flight rolls their eyes as they board.  As a mother, I see so many logical ways that we could make flying for families more pleasant, and less anxious. 

There are many issues in our world today, but I believe that making travel easier for families of young children is SO important.  If we want to change the tide of xenophobia and nationalism in our current climate in America, what better place to start than making traveling more accessible for families?

There should be family sections on planes where mothers can breastfeed or pump easily, where babies and toddlers can have a bit of freedom to chatter and be babies! 

Traveling should be for everyone, and I think there are some concrete ways that airlines can make it easier.  I am petitioning these airlines to create a Board of Mothers and Fathers to be a sounding board for change.
