Zoo Negara Adoption Package: Save The Tigers

The Issue

In 1964, Malaysia’s national zoo, Zoo Negara, opened its doors for the first time. More than 3,000 specimens from 275 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish are housed in the zoo’s 110 acres of land. The zoo is operated by the Malaysian Zoological Society, which is a non-governmental organisation. They rely on gate collections, as well as donations and sponsorships for their funding.

The National Zoo’s survival in the face of the pandemic is crucial, as it relies heavily on the number of tourists and enough funds and donations from the public. National Zoo has recently been confirmed to be in financial trouble due to the third wave of Covid-19 infection. It is because the National Zoo has been closed due to travel restrictions in recent times. They have suffered dramatically since gate collections are their primary source of revenue. Indeed, this is not a good situation for our National Zoo. They should not be burdened with too many problems due to the pandemic, especially for the animals who are not supposed to be victims of circumstances at this unprecedented time. Not only that, recovering during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) would be complicated for the National Zoo, as it will be challenging to collect ticket sales and sell products and services at this time.

Since the CMCO began on October 14, the National Zoo had not received any assistance. As a solution, an amount of money has been raised to help the zoo overcome its financial difficulties. One such initiative is the “Zoo Negara Adoption Package,” in which the public can help raise funds by adopting a tiger. It requires the public to adopt any types of tigers symbolically to raise funds for National Zoo’s essential needs, such as annual food, enrichment, and health care. Thus, everybody is encouraged to engage in the “Adopt An Animal” campaign by adopting a tiger to ensure the National Zoo is not threatened any longer.

Thoroughly, National Zoo’s ‘Adopt An Animal’ campaign allows the public to save the life of tigers for as little as RM25. People will be able to sponsor the welfare of the tigers and alleviate National Zoo’s financial burden by engaging in the “Adopt An Animals” campaign.

Anyone interested in donating or supporting the campaign can look at the available packages on the Ticket2U site at https://www.ticket2u.com.my/event/18171/zoo-negara-adoption-package or through the Zoo Negara Malaysia online shops on Lazada and Shopee.
