Living in Leadwood, Missouri, has been an ongoing challenge for many of us. With a city hall that isn't even operational five days a week and yet expects a full paycheck, we face constant mismanagement. The city has squandered resources in the past and still continues to do so. Our entire community feels the impact, as evident from the state audit where Leadwood scored the lowest rating possible, indicating gross negligence and inefficiencies. As well as lack of funds for any improvements without grants. 

One of the most pressing concerns is the raw sewage problem, which has been unresolved for years. The health and safety of our residents are at risk, and the state of our community infrastructure is disheartening. Despite these serious issues, reliance on the limited financial resources of our taxpayers has not led to any viable solutions.

It's time we consider unincorporating Leadwood and allowing St. Francois County to take over. This transfer of governance can bring new opportunities for funding and management that are currently unavailable under the existing city structure. St. Francois County, with its larger pool of resources and broader funding options, can address our infrastructural and administrative issues more efficiently than an under-resourced small town can.

By placing Leadwood under the authority of St. Francois County, we can ensure a more stable and transparent management system, help end the era of financial wastage, and focus on resolving the environmental hazards that our community should not be facing.
