With the coronavirus forcing millions of high schoolers to finish the school year online it is only reasonable that the students of East De Pere High School should not have to take finals. Online school is not the same as in person classes, this complicates the learning process because students are on their own to learn and adapt to a whole new learning system. The process is straining and stressful as students no longer get face to face interaction with teachers and classmates. Expecting students to take final exams when schooling is no longer the same would be a detriment. I am asking that any student who goes to East De Pere and agrees with this petition to sign it in hopes that we can get a message across to the school board of the Unified School District of De Pere that all students at East De Pere should be exempted from finals for the end of the 2020 school year. Enrollment at the high school for the 2019-2020 school year was 1,390 students. I am asking that we all work together to get as close to this number as we can!
