There is no ferret emoji. There totally should be!

Ferrets are awesome, funny, clever, thieving, loving, sleepy and all-round gorgeous members of the mustelid family. They love to party and are often full of mischief. In short, we must have more mustelids!

This petition aims to bring attention to the need for the Unicode Consortium, the group that approves emojis, to include a ferret in the next update.

It was amazing to see an otter and a skunk included in the July 2019 emoji updates. Otters and skunks are related to ferrets and are * almost * as adorable as ferrets themselves. Otters hold hands when they fall asleep in the water - how adorable is that? Well, ferrets are adorable and they work hard - ferrets helped build the Millenium dome in London, carrying wires through pipelines, lured by the smell of food.

It's a total coincidence that my birthday is July 17. This day is also World Emoji Day. What a cool thing it would be to have a ferret emoji by July 17, 2020.

Full disclosure, I'm an author and my first series involved a talking ferret called Shambles. He was actually a real man, living in reduced circumstances. I've been on the lookout for ferret emojis ever since, but as each update comes and goes, I feel the disappointment so keenly.

It's time for the party animal. It's time for the ferret.
