There are many animals featured as emojis, but one that is very close to our hearts is missing...the tapir!

The tapir is a beautiful, tranquil, mysterious creature. We believe it’s time for the tapir to receive its own emoji and get the recognition this iconic animal deserves!

Tapirs are land mammals that have inhabited Earth for roughly 50 million years. There are four species of tapir: the Baird's tapir, the South American tapir, the Mountain tapir, and the Malayan tapir - with three of these categorised as endangered, and one as vulnerable.

With the addition of a tapir emoji, not only can we all express our love for these charismatic animals, but we will also be able to share the importance of tapir conservation.
