It's estimated that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 4 boys suffer child sexual abuse. On top of this, there is a culture of silence and secrecy that surrounds this issue, in families, institutions and society itself.
Organisations made up of survivors and experts, like ours, tirelessly raise awareness to break the silence and taboo. We believe that it is important to speak up about child sexual abuse without fear, in order to create social transformation, and protect the sanctity of childhood.
We believe the best way to reach our objective is to raise awareness within society, and above all, to establish prevention programmes with effective detection, in order to break the culture of systematic patriarchal violence. An understanding that contributes to the creation of a society with a healthy educational system that takes into the account the ethics of care.
This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Convention of Child and Adolescent Rights. We're using this anniversary to remember that we have the right to receive protection against all forms of violence, especially violence as appalling as child sexual abuse.
It's why, to force society to take responsibility, we are asking for the 19th November to be publically recognised as as the Universal Day for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse.
