This comment is regarding Item N on the meeting agenda referencing Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) for the Utility meeting to be held on October 25 2022.
The Vice Mayor goes out of his way to claim in his propaganda release of October 23, 2022 that this increase in the Power Cost Adjustment has nothing to do with a bond issue, system hardening (whatever that is???), labor costs, contributions to the city budget or anything else! It was ONLY to cover the costs due to the raising gas fuel prices. Which they claim was 18% of the usage bill per rate payer.
With the enormous dollar amounts involved (estimating the average PCA charge per rate payer per month to be conservatively $60) based upon 27,500 rate payers – that equates to approximately 3.3 million dollars in just two months– AFTER the Power Cost Adjustment of 18% was paid to their supplier – as requested. Why were these excessive PCA charges implemented? Where are these excess funds that were collected and what are they being used for that they should not be being used for?
This is all awfully suspicious and suspect! This Board of Commissioners need to for this account for this huge discrepancy, without delay. If they can’t the funds should be reimbursed to the rate payers immediately!
