President James Herbert of the University of New England is mandating students return to class as normal one day after one of the biggest mass shootings (a mass casualty incident) occurred in the state. The perpetrator, is still on loose in Maine. There is an active manhunt in progress, and he could be anywhere. Additionally he has proven ties to next town over Saco, ME. 
the expectation for students to return to classes as normal is inexcusable and ridiculous. I’m incredulous at the callous lack of care shown by the school, as are many others. Additionally, the insensitivity to the situation is abhorrent.

People had genuine faith that classes would be canceled and students met with understanding and care for the terror and heartbreak being experienced in massive proportions. We have been let down today.

Sign this petition to show you stand against these actions taken by the school, and that this kind of response is inexcusably disgusting. We deserve time to recover, and the school’s failure to provide that will not go unnoticed.
