Unblock NationStates from LCPS Chromebooks

The Issue

Me and my fellow students use NationStates to learn about the systems of government. It teaches us how to run a country, the consequences of our decisions, and how to work together as a team and conduct ourselves with diplomacy, among other things.

One of our favorite educational pastimes has been ruined by the recent decision to block access to this valuable resource on LCPS Chromebooks. NationStates is an online simulation game that allows users to create and manage their own countries, making it a fun and interactive way to understand political systems, economics, and international relations.

Blocking this site limits our ability to engage in meaningful educational activities outside of traditional classroom settings. We believe that NationStates provides a unique platform for students like us who are passionate about learning more about governance in an engaging manner. It is especially useful for neurodivergent students and those who learn through experience, but apparently, we are not allowed to learn in school unless it fits some narrow-minded view of what is the "correct way" to learn.

Students and teachers alike are outraged at the fact that such a simple joy has been stripped away from us. Students are completely blocked from contacting LCPS tech support directly, and our only option is to email them. Finding contact information for these admins was exceedingly difficult and goes to show that they think they can take away any educational site that they deem, "too fun."

Please support us in urging Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) to unblock NationStates on school-issued Chromebooks so we can continue using this tool for educational purposes. Sign the petition today!
