I am a student who enjoys games, like many others. These games not only serve as a source of entertainment but also stimulate our minds and enhance problem-solving skills. However, the current restrictions on student chromebooks/computers block access to these games, limiting our ability to engage in these beneficial activities.

According to the American Psychological Association, video games can boost learning, health and social skills. They can strengthen cognitive skills such as spatial navigation, reasoning, memory and perception (APA 2013). This is particularly true for shooter video games that are often thought of as mind-numbingly violent.

The unblocking of games on student chromebooks/computers would allow us to take advantage of these benefits during our free time at school. It's important that we have this outlet available for stress relief and cognitive development.

We understand the need for responsible use of technology in schools. Therefore we propose a monitored system where students can access approved educational or skill-enhancing games during specified times.
