Climate Change presents an unprecedented global crisis. It includes both global warming driven by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases and the resulting large-scale shifts in weather patterns (increased severity and frequency).

On the other hand, COVID 19 has also exposed rising global inequalities, when connected to climate change, it rises questions of sustainability as the outbreak preys on vulnerability of ecosystems and societies.

It is essential that the planet reacts and adapts to these challenges. To accomplish this, the first step is to embrace renewable energies, naturally such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat, and avoid fossil fuels. 

The United Nations, must make a bold step to protect the disproportionately Global South by demanding that proceeds from fossil fuel, oil, gas and mineral be set aside to fund a Just transition to Renewable Energy. Member states can also adopt robust RE Policies, mainstreamed across all sectors, which also channel revenue from mining to finance a transition to cleaner energy sources.
