Over the last year during the covid pandemic essential shop workers such as supermarket workers have had to continue to go to work in order to feed the nation.

These workers have risked their health and their families health to make sure the country can lockdown, stay at home and get the essentials they need.

Supermarket and essential shop workers are often the forgotten front line workers of the pandemic.

As we continue the road map back to normality and people start returning to work, to socialising and normal day to day activities. We should recognise the hard work, stress and risk to their health that those workers in essential shops have endured during the pandemic

As a reward and a thank you from the nation let's give these forgotten frontline workers a paid day off. A day when all the essential shops from the past year close for 24 hours this summer and the workers can have a day of rest and appreciation got the work they have done to feed the nation.
