Why this petition matters

"From 5 November until 2 December, people living in England are not allowed to travel overseas "unless for work, education or other legally permitted reasons". If you've booked a flight to go on holiday during that period you are not supposed to travel.
But because people who have a valid reason can travel, airlines will operate a limited number of flights to certain destinations." (Tom Burridge - BBC Travel Correspondent)

So myself like many other people have booked flights to go abroad during the period of time the government have set lockdown for, however Ryanair are refusing to give a refund for the cost of flights that were due to take place during this time period, even though it is illegal for me to travel according to lockdown restrictions. How is it morally right that I do not get a refund when I'm legally not allowed to travel?

I was due to see a relative who lives abroad who I have not seen in over a year. Due to a second lockdown, I'm now unable to go but I'm also losing the money I have paid for my flights. Due to my work, I was able to go over during this month however, I'm not in a position where I can simply just change the dates of my flights. It's not that straight forward as I'm sure many will understand.

If it was legal to travel, then it is different. However, when the government have clearly stated that no non-essential travel is to take place during lockdown, refunds should be given to customers.
