Help the NHS support families effectively in the death of loved ones!
The Issue
On the 10th of August, my beautiful, amazing mother passed away and, two days later Wexham Park Hospital launched a serious investigation to look at their potential failure of care.
However our petition does not relate to the medical care, it relates to the failure of the NHS trust to provide information relating to her death. To date we do not know:
What time she passed away.
When she started becoming unstable (we had called and been told she was stable and that she would not be seen by a doctor for eight hours).
Was there an opportunity to call her next of kin, when she worsened so that she didn't die alone (no one called either of her next of kin)
Who was with her when she passed.
What her last words were.
Was she scared/did if she knew she was passing.
Where her personal belongings are.
This is completely unacceptable, we are unable to grieve or accept her passing, as we don't have the salient information in order to move forward.
We are advocating for a change of law, that has a limit of 14 days for information as outlined above, to be given to the bereaved family. Currently a complaint has to be made (different to the serious investigation that the hospital instigated), and the hospital has 40 working days, to answer.
The British people should not have to wait so long for pertinent information such as this, it is our taxes that pay for the NHS, we have a right to information, a right to understand, and a right to grieve.
If we can get a 100k signatures, this issue will be considered for debate in the House of Commons, potentially ensuring that this situation does not happen to you, or anyone in the UK.
Please help us to help you!
