Ban the use of Button Batteries in children's toys, make them more secure in other items

The Issue

The UK is seeing a large increase in serious injuries, and in some cases death, from children swallowing button batteries.
At the same time, we are seeing an large increase in the use of button batteries in children's toys.
Surely this cannot be coincidence?

Why are we using several button batteries when a single AA or AAA battery would do the same job with a minimal increase in size?
AA type batteries are much less appetising to toddlers and babies who have managed to open their toys to reveal a potentially fatal prize, as well as being much harder to swallow.
Neither of my toddlers have been injured, thankfully, but when I started to think about how many of their toys contain 3 or 4 of these batteries each, I became quite concerned.
I would like the government to address this issue, as there is 100s of children that come to injury, harm or even death with these button batteries. No child or parent should go through something so tragic, which could easily be prevented.Button batteries aren't needed, even though they are smaller, AA and AAA batteries have the same power. Childrens toys don't need something so dangerous. Also, other household items that have these deadly items in should be made to be screwed shut. As a lot of children in a lot of household grab and play with things like remotes, key fobs, little pocket torches. They should be made more secure, they only take a little push and the battery is out. More safety regulations should be put in place regarding these button batteries. Too many children have lost their lives to these and too many parents have had to go through the heartache of losing their child. Something needs to be done.
