This petition is to help get the horse bit banned. The horse bit is a metal bar that is placed in the horse's mouth to abruptly direct the horse by the rider's control.

Imagine having a metal bar in your mouth, rubbing and rupturing your gums to a point where eating is no longer a desire. Imagine having your head pulled involuntary while your tongue is trapped, and the rider keeps pulling whilst you are experiencing excruciating headaches and psychological trauma to a point where your existence becomes unbearable.

Imagine riding in this excruciating pain for the benefit of the person sitting on your back, which you did not consent to, nor gain from, with no voice to share your pain, knowing you will be suffering again and again in the hands of the next rider, and no one will ever come to know to put an end to the suffering from this abusive device.

Have you ever truly looked at a horse being ridden? The pain can be seen through their eyes. We live in a world where we obliviously accept our surroundings, but it's time to change and take responsibility for our world. Let's start to see and feel from another's point of view. 

What is the purpose of the Horse bit?

According to the https://www.horsefactbook.com :

"The idea is that the bit applies subtle pressure to the bars of the mouth which are made of sensitive cartilage. The horse is responsive to any movement or pressure on those bars and instinctively moves away from it, which means that they actually move in the direction the rider wants them to go."

After researching the horse bit, it is clear that horses can be ridden without them (see reference below). The horse bit is purely for the rider's benefit to control the horse, and the organizations that claim a horse bit is necessary are those that are profit seeking. If a horse bit is required to ride horses then quite frankly they should not be ridden.

The only way to tell if a horse bit or any device for an animal is cruel is to imagine the device on yourself. Would you consent to this?
