Every year fireworks on general sale to the public are larger and more dangerous. They are sold to the general public who may have the best intentions and to people who's intentions are less honourable.   I am sat in my 80+ year old parents flat tonight in the a Solihull suburb and it sounds like a war zone outside.  People will end up in casualty by accident and due to misuse and assault.  Animals will be maimed and killed.  In addition the noise brings distress to humans with mental health conditions like PTSD and to wildlife and pets.  This is the 21st century.  Why do we sell explosive devices to people who have no idea how to handle them?  Why do we need the noise of explosives in a century where it is possible to have silent fireworks so the pretty colours can be enjoyed without the distressing noise.  My plea is to end this senseless sale of explosives to the general public, and to move to organised professional displays only.  Additionally to have consideration for fellow humans and all animals and move to have silent fireworks if we must continue to "celebrate" something that happened in 1605!  I cannot be alone so I ask for your support as we must be evolving and realise this is no longer necessary!
