There was a piece on radio four today about the rise in deaths over the last ten years attributed to drug and alcohol misuse., a fact that it is directly relatable to the cuts in funding to drug and alcohol misuse treatment services applied by the Government. In particular the north east figures quoted for deaths related to substance misuse, York alone seeing a 60% rise in deaths. I  live in York and since the latest cuts the services in York have been strangled to the point where even the one to one key worker sessions so vital to continually support a client through a very complex and long process of dealing with their misuse have been stopped.. The service we had before the new contract and the budget cuts this year was a complete and comprehensive and therapeutic service with lots of groups and individual work being offered to clients. The cuts have meant a reduction in staffing numbers and its sad so many workers have had to take redundancies which just shouldn't be the case. The impact on service users is that they aren't getting the time with professionals that they need to overcome their addictions.  I therefore would like you to take a minute to sign the petition in protest to the cuts and ask for budgets to be increased to meet the needs of communities everywhere including the community I live in. I accessed services myself and I have seen the decline for myself and its shocking the Government are not being challenged now. Please help me change this now. It's not the treatment services fault or the local council I am targeting with this petition as it's the Government that are making these cuts and therefore they are the ones to be challenged.Many thanks johny
