CAP PUPPY PRICES - STOP DOG THEFTS - ERADICATE PUPPY FARMS

CAP PUPPY PRICES - STOP DOG THEFTS - ERADICATE PUPPY FARMS
The Issue
Since the increase in puppy prices reaching a sky high average of £3000 from the March 2020 lockdown, dog thefts have risen by OVER 45%
Dogs are being stolen from gardens, home break ins, outside of shops and even straight from owners whilst walking their dogs.
47% are small, 14% are large or giant breeds but a whopping 50% of these dogs are puppies or young adults.
Why?
Because your dog is now a monetary target.
The higher the price of a pup, the more desirable that dog is to backyard breeders and puppy farmers, who only see pound signs per puppy that can be produced from that dog.
The greed of breeders having a 'supply and demand' attitude over a LIVING BREATHING ANIMAL - NOT A PRODUCT has caused the desire to breed unnecessarily in order to make a 'quick and easy large amount of money' increase on a huge scale, and with that, the dog thefts have increased in turn, carried out by the low life people who do not even want to purchase their own dog.
A dog is a companion, a work mate, a friend, a confident and a living, breathing animal with thoughts and feelings. A dog loves their human unconditionally, and should not be bred and sold for profit.
A dog is not a product or an item. A dog is now widely considered as a part of the family.
The only way you are going to be able to eventually eradicate dog thefts and puppy farms, is by making dogs a non valuable non profit target and instead, keep them as only valuable to ourselves for their company.
The aim of this petition is to create a price cap on how much a puppy can be sold for. This particular price cap is to be further researched, in order to only cover costs of what the average litter would cost to breed and raise up until 8 weeks old.
Selling puppies should not be a profitable business and breeding should only be carried out to continue a good line of working dogs, and dogs with good temperaments etc. By placing a cap, you can reduce the profit that someone can make, and so breeding a dog for profit becomes less desirable.
46% of dogs that have been stolen within the last year ARE STILL MISSING. The thought of what life they must now be living (if any are still living) is not worth thinking about. But by removing the monetary value of a dog, we can reduce this number, and we can reduce the amount that are stolen, or used in puppy farms.
Please take two minutes out of your day to try to push this petition forward, as without placing a cap on puppy prices, these extortionate prices will only stay in place or become higher, and the threat of having our dogs stolen from us, from our own homes and gardens, and from our own hands when out walking, will only be on the rise.
