Reciprocal agreement with the EU on the transfer / recognition of UK CAA Engineer Licences

Reciprocal agreement with the EU on the transfer / recognition of UK CAA Engineer Licences
The Issue
As it stands after 31/12/2020 a UK issued EASA part 66 engineers licence is no longer valid in Europe.
This has big implications on any UK engineer that has missed the transfer deadline (or thought there would be a bilateral agreement in the trade deal)
Currently there is no solution to transfer or any recognition of UK CAA licences to EU. The current feedback from local European NAA is that if we wish to obtain an EU issued EASA Part 66 engineering licence that we must retake all the exams! It cannot be the case to effectively start from the beginning, considering all the qualification criteria has been completed to EASA regulations. Individuals who worked so hard to obtain the qualification and subsequent investment from companies for type rating courses (all of which are EASA Part 147 issued) can have a route to future employment in Europe. This is beneficial on both sides as the UK has a great pool of experienced engineers.
EASA Part 66 transfer to UK is still possible for 2 years, which is an unbalanced situation.
This petition is to raise awareness to the following.
- Reach a bilateral agreement to recognise UK CAA issued Engineering licences.
- Provide a roadmap/guidance/recognition of UK issued and UK EASA Part 66 licences. Even if it must be an initial issue, then credit to be applied based on the EASA issued Licence prior to EASA withdrawal
