It’s back to school season! and many students are required to provide UIL completed forms to participate in their chosen sport. We (Sports Center Physical Therapy) as a group of Doctors of Physical Therapy are not listed as allowed to completed the previously mentioned form(s); however, Doctors of Chiropractic are.                

We believe this is just an outdated form as the DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) credential and degree requirements have since changed when Physical Therapists were simply known as LPTs. In fact, the DPT program did not start until 1996 - (25 years ago), comparing to the DC program which began in the early 1900s.              

As the owner of an outpatient physical therapy office that employees excellent DPTS And I’m behalf of the thousands of other amazing DPTs across the states, we request that that we be allowed to perform these physicals and the UIL forms that come with them. 

Thank you for your time. Our office alone gets almost 10 phone calls a day for school physicals at the moment. It’s a shame and unethical that we must say we aren’t able to perform them.
