University of Exeter Strike Compensation for Students

University of Exeter Strike Compensation for Students
The Issue
University of Exeter students have been adversely impacted by the strikes over the last two academic years (November 2019 and again 20th February-13th March 2020). While many of us understand the reasons for industrial action, the effects on students from the duration and timing of the strikes is distressing, not least mentally.
The students of Exeter University urge the University to compensate students with a repayment of tuition fees, proportionate to tuition fees paid (£9000 or £9250, or international student fees) divided by the 155 contact days multiplied by the days lost.
For example: £9250/150 = £61.67 x 14 (of upcoming strike days) = £863.38 per student.
The University as a service provider has the duty to provide what its customers i.e. we as students pay for. Thousands of us have lost hours of teaching and suffered increased distress and inconvenience. Our education is being impacted in the long-term and it is not sufficient just to change deadlines.
We pay for classes and teaching support, which we should receive or be compensated for. If the strike is upheld, we do not see how it is justified to withhold our money.
Staff are making demands, but we are bearing the consequences.
