San Francisco, NO MORE high taxes for parking!

The Issue

The need to substantially tax drivers who park in public university lots and garages located in the city is not only unjustified, it’s downright unfair! We pay more than enough as it is from our hard earned money. Our parking cost have been rising throughout the years, 7.5% over the past six years to be exact. To say that we don’t pay taxes to fund infrastructure improvements raises the following  questions: what are we paying for monthly if it doesn’t go to the maintenance of the infrastructure we are parking in, what is it funding and, where is our money going?

We believe we pay our dues to this city. We are not against taxation to cover expenditures for infrastructure but, unfair taxation is where we draw the line. How do you find it reasonable to tax us 25% more, not only that, we are expected to fork out another 7.5% for Fiscal Year 2020-2021.

You realize that not all employees or students live in San Francisco, many commute several hours from home to work, any alternative to driving for many of us is not feasible, it either cuts down our much needed hours of rest between long shifts or puts us in longer times of commute.

Be considerate of the hard working people! Lower the taxes if they must be implemented right away or if not, at least space them out over the years. An over all increase of 32.5% within a year is appalling. Many of us barely won our union contracts after several years of not having a raise and negotiating for fair wages. Why does everything have to be a fight for fairness?
