Last year, the Dean of Students and Associate Vice Chancellor Alma Sifuentes was arrested for a DUI (see link below for details), and the University has failed to hold her accountable. Her immature and irresponsible actions clearly show that she poses a serious health and safety threat to the Santa Cruz community. Her lack of regret or apology concerns us deeply, giving us concrete reasons to believe that she may engage in unsafe activities again in the future. Driving under the influence claims the lives of nearly 30 people every single day in the US! This is a serious issue putting innocent pedestrians, children, and other motorists in fatal danger.

As dedicated members of the UCSC and greater Santa Cruz community, we demand that she be held accountable for this extremely inconsiderate and reckless conduct. We demand that Alma Sifuentes go through a judicial process facilitated by the students she governs to determine whether or not she will never engage in such actions that create harm to herself or the University and the greater Santa Cruz community ever again.
